Overview:

The individual in this position will work in our Mining and Industrial Division on Water/Wastewater projects. Is the technical source of information for the Project. Has a thorough knowledge of the construction documents, subcontracts and purchase orders. Responds to questions about the drawings, specifications, shop drawings and change orders. Maintains an effective and professional working relationship with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers. May assist with the supervision and/or training of Field Engineer positions.



Responsibilities:

1. May supervise staff, including: establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs and conducting on-the-job training. 2. Material and equipment procurement is a primary responsibility of this position. 3. Develops firm understanding of contract drawings and specifications. 4. Develops a procurement schedule and coordinates it with the project CPM schedule. 5. Reviews all shop drawings for compliance with the Contract Documents. 6. Coordinates shop drawings with other trades. 7. Becomes familiar with all abstracts, subcontracts, purcahse order agreements and allowance items. 8. Prepares and reviews change orders including time extensions with the appropiate project personnel before submittal to the owner: Maintains the change order log, Upon receipt of executed change orders, distributes documents as required to Company and subcontractor field personnel, Prepares and distributes subcontract and purchase order supplements, Prepares cost control budget adjustments and execute in a timely manner. 9. Maintains the change order log. 10. Upon receipt of executed change orders, distributes documents as required to Company and Subcontractor field personnel. 11. Participates in concrete form design and related equipment selection. 12. Participates in takeoffs for concrete, asphalt concrete, earthwork and utilities as required. 13. Prepares and maintains quantity reporting mechanisms. 14. Coordinates agendas and prepare minutes for all meetings. 15. Maintains "As-built" contract documents. Compiles close-out requirements including operation and maintenance manuals, warranties and other job specific items required by the specifications. 16. Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

The individual in this position should possess the knowledge base of a Field Engineer. In addition, the position requires a four-year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and related experience, plus a minimum of three years progressive construction experience in water/wastewater projects. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines. Should have the skill/ability to supervise and/or train Field Engineer positions if so required. Registration as a Professional Engineer is valuable.
